The Use: Global anti­bod­ies reli­ably mea­sure the lev­els of key pro­teins even in unchar­ac­ter­ized species or mixed com­mu­ni­ties. (PDF poster show­ing exper­i­men­tal results on phy­to­plank­ton).

The Ben­e­fit: Global anti­bod­ies are raised against pep­tides con­served in the tar­get pro­teins across a range of species. This intel­li­gent design gen­er­ates anti­bod­ies with quan­ti­ta­tive tar­get recog­ni­tion across a defined range of species.

The Strength: Global quan­ti­ta­tion stan­dards allow accu­rate mea­sure­ment of lev­els of the tar­get pro­tein from any species within the defined tax­o­nomic range because their tar­get recog­ni­tion region is pre­cisely the same.  Envi­ron­men­tal Pro­teomics has cre­ated sev­eral global anti­bod­ies for the most com­monly stud­ied pho­to­syn­thetic pro­teins along with the com­pan­ion pro­tein stan­dards.
